NEST-mas Day 4
We appreciate our special educators and students every day, but today we're cheering extra because it is National Special Education Day!

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which was signed into law on November 29, 1975, ensuring a free and appropriate public education for students with disabilities. In our district, we currently serve 325 students in grades K-12 through IDEA.

Thank you, special education staff, for all that you do for our students! We appreciate you!

Pea Ridge is proud to celebrate Jamie Bell, one of our incredible Special Education teachers at PRPS, who was nominated by a parent for the impact she’s made on their student. The parent described Jamie as dedicated, determined, and caring.

Jamie has served Pea Ridge for 5 years and has been in education for 18. KNWA selects just one educator each month across all of Northwest Arkansas for their Golden Apple Award, and Jamie was this month’s honoree. She received the Golden Apple, gift cards, and a basket of goodies provided by POST.

KNWA shared that the feature is expected to air sometime in November. We’ll share it with our community as soon as it’s released.

HAWKS Camo Collection is LIVE!
Students in Ms. Sairls’ Animal Science and Vet Science classes traveled to the 808 Ranch in Missouri yesterday for an exceptional in-person learning experience.

Our students learned about the IVF process in cattle, explored specialized careers within the agriculture industry, and gained valuable insight into advanced reproductive technologies. The ranch has invited them back in February to view the ultrasound process to see which embryos were successfully implanted.

It was a fascinating day of real-world learning, and several students left inspired—and even interested in future careers at the ranch. 🌱🐄✨

A special thank you to the 808 Ranch for welcoming our students and allowing them to be part of such an incredible process.

Pea Ridge Primary School proudly participated in World Diabetes Day today, taking time to raise awareness and support students living with Type 1 diabetes.

This effort was led by kindergarten student Will Fitzgerald and his family, who partnered with Nurse Stelli to help educate classmates. Will lives with Type 1 diabetes, and his family wanted as many students as possible to understand the condition and recognize its symptoms.

Nurse Stelli provided diabetes-awareness stickers, and Will’s parents donated bracelets for students as they arrived at school. They also prepared coloring sheets for Will’s class titled “I have a friend with Type 1 diabetes,” helping his peers learn more in a positive, age-appropriate way.

We are grateful for the Fitzgerald family and our school staff for promoting awareness, compassion, and education within our district.💙💙💙

This week is National School Psychology Week. We are so grateful for the work that Heather Couch and Patty Imhoof do for our special education department.

During the week of November 3-7, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and schools across the United States will celebrate the 2025 National School Psychology Week (NSPW). This week celebrates the contributions of school psychologists and the important role they play in schools and communities.

NSPW is an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists' work to help children thrive in school, at home, and in life. This year's theme, "Finding Your Path," reflects the ways that school psychologists help students, families, and school communities set and achieve their goals. Join us by taking this week to chart your course to explore how each person can celebrate the work of school psychologists and learn how school psychologists make a difference every day.
