Mission:

The mission of the Pea Ridge Scholars Academy is to promote academic excellence by empowering students to achieve their goals and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Our students will excel with purpose and lead with awareness. 

Description:

Pea Ridge Scholars Academy (PRSA) is a free program for students in the district designed to help academically motivated students find their passion, explore their career possibilities, and determine the best colleges to meet their needs. It is part of the Advanced Programs and is an extension of the Pea Ridge Gifted and Talented program, though participation is open to ALL students willing to accept the challenge of a rigorous high school experience with Advanced, AP and/or concurrent classes.

Eligibility & Program Requirements

Requirements:

  • participation in the Amazing Shake soft skills course

Requirements:

  • 3.7 GPA or higher
  • Fully Completed Student Success Plan (Maps path for Distinction and Merit) 
  • 7th grade:- minimum of 3 advanced courses & Pre-ACT
  • 8th grade- minimum of 3 advanced courses (Algebra 1/Physical Science) & Pre-ACT
  • 9th- minimum of 3 advanced courses (Geometry, Spanish, AP Human Geography, Biology, CC courses) & ACT 

Requirements:

  • 3.7 GPA or higher
  • Fully Completed Student Success Plan (Maps path for Distinction and Merit) 
  • Sophomore -  minimum of 2 AP or CC Courses & PSAT, ACT/SAT
  • Junior - minimum of 3 AP or CC Courses & PSAT/NMSQT, ACT/SAT
  • Senior - minimum of 3 AP or CC Courses
  • 2 years of Foreign Language
  • AP Human Geography
  • Connections to something in NWA- Passport
  • Seal of Biliteracy

FAQs

How will I know if my student qualifies to be a Scholar?  

  • All students who qualify will receive a formal invitation in the spring. Students will have the option to accept or deny their invitation.

Will my status as a scholar automatically renew each year?  

  • No. Student performance will be evaluated at the end of each school year to make sure that all requirements were met in order for them to continue with the scholars academy the following year.
